If you are unemployed or on a low income, your Children's Centre can offer you help and support to find a job, find higher paid work or access training to improve your skills. If you have children under 5, they can also provide high quality, affordable, local childcare.

 

A variety of training will be on offer and will include courses in:

• I.T Skills
• Buying & Selling on eBay
• Health & Social Care Short Courses
• Door Supervising
• Creative Writing
• Tiling
• Basic Food Hygiene
• Try a Trade Construction
• Paediatrics and Children's First Aid

 

If you're receiving benefits, the centre based advisers can provide all the support and advice you need to balance work and your home life.

They can help with:

• Advice and support to parents via formal and informal

• Advice on childcare and help with childcare costs

• A Better Off In Work Calculation

• Getting advice on writing a CV and applying for jobs

• Preparing for an interview

• Help you find training to develop new skills

• Applying for in-work benefits, such as Tax Credits

Support doesn't stop when you find a job. Your adviser will tell you about all the in-work benefits available to you.

You may be entitled to a tax-free Job Grant of £250 when you start work and many working parents receive help with childcare costs through Tax Credits.
