Children's Star Awards 2009

             2009 Winner: Children's Centre - Team of the Year

Friar Park, Mesty Crofts and Woods Children’s Centre wowed audiences by scooping the Children’s Centre Team of the Year Award in the Children’s Stars Awards 2009. The national awards scheme, run by children’s charity 4Children and supported by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC), takes place annually in honour of the unsung heroes who work day in, day out, to improve the lives of children and young people.

The dynamic Friar Park, Mesty Crofts and Woods Children’s Centre picked up the Children’s Centre Team of the Year Award for their dedication and commitment to improving the lives of children and families. A team of 50 - from Early Years professionals to mini bus drivers and careers advisors to ante-natal midwives – their expertise has helped hundreds of families.

The centre has the highest reach of all Sandwell’s 18 Children Centres.

Friar Park, Mesty Crofts and Woods Children’s Centre always seek new opportunities, including winning £8,000 Primary Care Trust funding towards an ‘Express Library’ at the centre to help families and children read and loan books.
